Did you really think I have the “key” to success?!
Nope but I have some advice from what I’ve learned so far in life.  Unfortunately, this post is not about that “key” to success.  It’s a little more personal than that.  I got the thought of the key to success from a song by  Lil Wayne (the rapper) that I just heard on the radio.  It got me thinking…
He was rapping about having the key. Â What’s up with these guys?! Â Seriously, no offense to LiL Wayne. Â He’s got talent. Â I have just noticed that many rappers in general sing about what they have as far as material. Â They have this and that but when are they going to talk about something with substance, maybe tell a story with a moral or something? Â Did they ever think that maybe this really resonates with people and makes them believe that mindset? Â They are terribly wrong.
The point is that life is not about the things we have. Â It’s not about our gadgets, clothing, shoes, bags (though I personally love them all). Â It’s about how we feel towards ourselves inside. Â What happens to most of the things you buy on spur of the moment? Â You like it for a little while and then you forget about it. Â It gets old. Â It goes out of style. Â It stops working when you originally spent over $200 on it. Â If you’re feeling sorry for yourself because there’s some “thing” you want but you can’t have, then take some time to think about it. Â Is it really that important? Â That’s what’s best to do with shopping. Â Walk away and think about it.
Don’t waste your energy on “things”. Â They’re only temporary. Â Also, they don’t make who you are. Â They don’t give you your personality. Â Look at the homeless man who got famous simply from his voice! Â His voice alone made him special. Â Focus on the values that you have, which make you an unforgettable person. Â What makes you different? Â What makes you stand apart from everyone you know?
In the comments below, let me know how you’ve been thinking about what sets YOU apart from everyone else!
Chiming in again real quick! (I hope you’ve been well by the way)
This is an important message. Things don’t matter. Sure, it’s nice to have them – and there’s nothing wrong with it…but there is when it comes before the substance of life. Relationships (family and friends) is what matters. Our faith is what matters. I can’t be defined by my Jordans…I’m not Jordan and can’t play like he played. Is it wrong for me to like them…nope, but it is wrong for me to worship them and think that they have some bearing on my soul – because they don’t.
A lot of people find life things – but then never feel fulfilled with life. I think that says a lot!
I hope your message spreads far and wide. Even if it doesn’t immediately, one day it will. You write from the heart and it’s only a matter of time until this place is flooded with interaction between readers and yourself.
Keep it up Iviana!
PEACE
Good! I’ll continuously try to find out my own values. I need to change attitude to deal with my “things.” Thanks for your post!!
